Overview

General Description:

 

The Continuous Improvement (CI) Leader role is responsible driving a continuous improvement culture supporting all business functions at ABEC. This role has responsibility for leading continuous improvement initiatives and kaizen events for improvement within ABEC. The CI leader will train associates on ABEC Continuous Improvement System (ACIS) tools, mentor associates on the ACIS mindset and monitor progress of ACIS initiatives.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Planning, facilitation, and implementation of kaizen and strategic CI project activities
  • Drive problem solving for sustained improvement in key business focus areas
  • Directly provide training of ACIS tools to all associates
  • Ensure ACIS initiatives are sustained throughout the business
  • Benchmark, communicate, and drive standard “Best Practices” across business functions
  • Work with the Director, Continuous improvement to continually improve and evolve the ACIS
  • Improve CI training and facilitation skills by pursuing certification in CI tools

Knowledge and Skills:

 

  • Technical and business knowledge of vessels and systems manufacturing
  • Superior written and oral communication skills, including active listening skills Interpersonal skills
  • Proven Change Management Skills
  • Ability to work and influence all levels of the organization
  • Effective coaching and mentoring skills
  • Strong group facilitation skills
  • Ability to self-manage time and projects
  • Ability to lead and work with cross-functional teams
  • Data Mining and Analytical skills
  • Independence, positive attitude, and an innovative spirit

 

Educational and Experience Preferred Requirements:

 

  • Familiarity with various manufacturing and business process processes
  • Exposure to and participation in a variety of training environments preferred
  • 2 years’ experience with lean manufacturing and knowledge of Toyota Product Systems or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of 6 Sigma & DMAIC process
  • Project management experience
  • BS Industrial Engineering (2-3 years) or equivalent experience (4-6 years)
