The IT Technician, together with the IT Team, supports the technology that ABEC’s employees use to serve our clients. H/She achieves this through a mix of technical and customer service skills and is passionate about technology and helping people. This is a first shift position with hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 pm.; however, additional hours may be required to properly manage upgrades, remote support of other ABEC locations and/or emergency problem resolution.


This position performs a range of IT Operations support activities including but not limited to:


  • Creating accounts and configuring hardware as part of the on-boarding process;


  • Supporting all IT-related equipment (ex.: desktops, laptops, tablets, phones, printers, scanners and other devices) as needed, including Installing software, configuring and preparing PCs and telephones as necessary;


  • Receiving trouble calls on equipment and diagnosing problems, and providing direct, routine technical support, troubleshooting assistance, problem resolution, and responses to inquiries, and


  • Performing equipment repair, building cables; replacing components to identify or remedy failures;


  • Performing all functions required to prepare and install PCs and related equipment, including connections to the data communications network;


  • Preparing and coordinating sending equipment out for repair or to other facilities.


  • Training users in the basic operation and maintenance of tools used


  • Scheduling/communicating any system changes/downtime among ABEC facilities, and


  • Working with IT Support Specialist and vendors to resolve problems.


  • Other related tasks as deemed necessary.



  • Two or more years’ experience in a related role;
  • Microsoft Windows, SQL Server, Exchange and Office Skills
  • Hardware installation and break/fix repair
  • New PC builds
  • PC/LAN troubleshooting experience, including remote desktop operation
  • Wired and wireless networking
  • Smart Phone and phone system experience
  • Cabling experience (ex.: terminating CAT 5/6)
  • ERP / Database Knowledge a Plus
  • VMware or other virtualization experience a Plus
  • Proven experience working with Windows XP, 7&8, TCP/IP, Microsoft Office, printers, faxes, and copiers.
  • Experience in computer networking including troubleshooting Internet connectivity issues and configuring routers.
  • A degree in computer science or a related field is a Plus
  • Ability to work independently, executing objectives of the function, with minimum supervision
  • Normal safety training to be completed as per company policy.
