    ABEC is a leading supplier to the biopharmaceutical manufacturing industry.  ABEC’s unique value is based on combining long experience with the ability to engineer, design, manufacture, commission, qualify, and service the entire bioprocess to reduce overall cost, shorten time to market, and maximize productivity.  ABEC’s products include process and equipment engineering/consulting services, comprehensive site services, bioreactors and fermenters, filtration and chromatography systems, prep and hold systems, and cleaning/sterilization systems. 


    The Director of Business Development, Bioprocess Solutions will identify and qualify all opportunities, create “win strategies”, oversee the execution of those “win strategies”, and lead the deal closing assignments. The individual in this role will work with all business units, mainly CSR & Services, and work closely with the Applications team.


    • Maintain successful relationships with existing customers
    • Research organizations to identify new leads and potential new markets to make recommendations for strategic decisions
    • Partner with the Sales and Marketing teams to construct and execute sales strategies and marketing initiatives to penetrate Biopharma market segments
    • Deliver ABEC value propositions
    • Attend conferences, meetings, and industry events for targeted networking and to raise our client profile in the Biopharma industry
    • Fully understand the customer’s challenges, needs, budget, decision-makers, process, and timing in order to successfully lead the creation of solution based proposals
    • Lead across functional teams at multiple levels within ABEC and the customer to build relationships and present the best solution
    • Monitor and report on Biopharma industry trends
    • Other work as assigned to support projects and / or customer expectations




    • Strong and demonstrable consultative selling approach. Formal training in recognized leading selling methodologies strongly desired
    • Able to function autonomously and drive strategic decisions while also executing deals from start-to-finish
    • In-depth knowledge of the biopharma manufacturing industry and its current events
    • Minimum 10 years of experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or Business Administration. MS or MBA a plus
    • Experience in selling to capital project decision-makers
    • Strong analytical skills; able to work collaboratively on teams and communicate effectively with senior management
    • Creative problem solver
    • Able to effectively organize and prioritize tasks to achieve established deadlines
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills
    • Able and willing to travel, including overnight and/or international as required (approximately 60%)
