    Position Summary:

    The Business Development  Engineer/Scientist is responsible for identifying, supporting and closing sales while providing  expertise in applications and design features of Single Use Systems and ABEC’s CSR® Solutions products.  The successful candidate should have a strong knowledge of the biopharmaceutical clinical and commercial manufacturing industry.  S/he is a subject matter expert regarding ABEC CSR products and solutions and a primary interface between ABEC’s Single-Use Sales organization and ABEC’s Engineering, Project Management, Technology, and Operations organizations.  The Business Development Specialist is responsible to support Sales with proposal content and technical data specific to customer needs in order to close opportunities



    • Specialist responsible for developing opportunities and closing sales of ABEC Single-Use  products and services. 
    • Advises on new product features, benefits and operating parameters, and provides input to designs to expand the ABEC Single-Use offering in support of expanded use opportunities
    • Develop and execute processes and procedures to enable effective demonstration and evaluation of CSR Solutions.
    • Support Sales as an expert at meetings with clients, and identify new business opportunities.
    • Develop and present  applications data specific to the Single-Use products in order to advance opportunities, expand scope of use and present ABEC products and services at the highest technical value.
    • Train Sales on product capabilities and differentiation.
    • Review client Requests for Proposals.  Provide solutions to ABEC’s Project Management group for estimating.  Provide proposal content.
    • Review purchase orders/contracts.  Recommend acceptance of orders if technically and commercially acceptable.
    • Provide technical content for marketing tools (presentations, brochures, website content, etc.) for effective communication of ABEC product features, benefits, and differentiation.
    • Support new product launches by providing marketing content, training Sales, and interfacing directly with potential customers.
    • Track competitor capabilities and activities.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Head of Single Use Business Development.


    • Technical sales or sales support experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical production or process development environment
    • Direct experience in selling large scale processing equipment and/or single use equipment into biopharma manufacturing
    • BS Degree in Engineering, Biochemistry or Biotechnology.  Masters Degree or PH.D  a plus.
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the biopharmaceutical manufacturing industry in process engineering, equipment engineering/design, process development and/or clinical/commercial manufacturing operations.
    • Prior experience in Biopharmaceutical upstream and/or downstream Applications/ Product Management/Project Management, and/or Field services strongly preferred.
    • Knowledge of bioprocess equipment (fermenters, bioreactors, filtration, chromatography, CIP, Single Use Systems, etc.).
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to travel approximately 60% regionally and nationally.
